Spirited Paw, a pet food brand touting whole food ingredients by US company Standard Process, has launched Skin + Allergy. The “comprehensive” seasonal support supplement is formulated to boost skin health during allergy season for cats and dogs.

Skin + Allergy’s bioavailable ingredients address skin, inflammation, and immune-supportive properties by supporting a normal histamine response and soothing pet skin “from the inside out.”

The formula features bovine colostrum, licorice root, zinc, biotin, and vitamin E to balance pets’ immune systems and inflammatory responses, while promoting a healthy, shiny coat.

“We’ve created effective, wholesome, science-backed supplements to address common pet issues,” says Katrina Verdeur, product development manager at Standard Process.

“Skin + Allergy supports seasonal allergies, occasional itching, and immune health by providing nutrients for the body’s normal response to irritating seasonal allergies and promoting skin and coat health.”

    Protection from environmental irritants

Skin + Allergy’s seasonal benefits include protecting pets from springtime pollen or the dry, heated winter air. It is also formulated to protect against environmental irritants that commonly affect pets, such as pollen, mold, dust mites, and indoor allergens.

The savory supplements are designed to be “easily enjoyed by the pickiest of pets.”

Spirited Paw touts its sustainable farming practices and rigorous manufacturing standards. Key ingredients, such as kidney beans and barley grass, are sourced from Standard Process’ USDA Certified Organic Farm in Palmyra, Wisconsin, US, while its bovine colostrum carries the non-GMO label.

In other recent pet nutrition advances, Beneo reported positive results last week from its technical trials demonstrating its faba bean protein concentrate can replace spray-dried animal blood plasma in wet pet food.

The supplier also introduced a sugar beet-derived, low-glycemic syrup — replacing glucose syrup and caramel —  for pet food applications including semi-moist and moist products or snacks.
