In this BMJ Investigation (BMJ 2025;390:r1363, doi:10.1136/bmj.r1363, published 9 July 2025), the amounts of sugar in energy drinks were incorrectly stated in milligrams rather than grams. The sentences have been corrected to: A 250 ml can of Red Bull contains 27.5 g of sugar—above the total recommended daily intake for children (24 g)—and 80 mg of caffeine, just below the average of a cup of coffee. A 500 ml can of Monster Energy contains 55 g of sugar and 160 mg of caffeine.
