    • Tru Fru recalled freeze-dried strawberry products after reports of metal fragments found.
    • Items were sold at Target, Kroger, CVS, H-E-B, Albertson’s, Food Lion and more nationwide.
    • Customers should seek refunds and contact a doctor if experiencing injuries from these recalled products.

Tru Fru just announced a recall on four of its products sold at various retailers nationwide, according to the company’s website. This is due to a foreign matter contamination.

The following Tru Fru products are being recalled, sold online and at retail locations such as Albertson’s, CVS, Food Lion, H-E-B, Hungryroot, Ingles Markets, Kroger, Stew Leonard’s and Target across the U.S.:

    • Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate (3.4-ounce) with UPC 850048358270
    • Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate (1.7-ounce) with UPC 850048358331
    • Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries in Dark & White Chocolate (13-ounce) with UPC  850048358379
    • Tru Fru Freeze Dried Strawberries & Crème (3.4-ounce) with UPC 850048358249

For further information, view the recall for specific manufacturing codes and item numbers impacted. This recall was initiated after a consumer report of finding metal fragments in the product.

“Hard or sharp foreign objects in food may cause traumatic injury including laceration and perforation of tissues of the mouth, tongue, throat, stomach and intestine as well as damage to the teeth and gums,” the company writes. If you are showing signs of illness or injury after eating one of the above freeze-dried fruit products, contact a healthcare provider.

For questions about this recall, call Tru Fru at (888) 293-7748 or contact [email protected]. Return any affected product to its place of purchase for a refund, or fill out the online form for reimbursement.
