NuAxon Bioscience showcases CO2 extraction for “full-spectrum” botanical nutraceuticals

NuAxon Bioscience spotlights the new formulation science behind BacoZen, its branded ingredient — a blend of bacopa and ashwagandha extracts — for sleep, stress, and mood support, which it will feature at SupplySide Global (October 29–30) in Las Vegas, Nevada, US.

According to the company, it is the only nutraceutical supplier using CO2 extraction to develop hundreds of standardized, full-spectrum botanical ingredients. The processing method increases the purity and bioavailability of finished extracts.

“Many botanical suppliers claim to offer science-backed, full-spectrum extracts but are unwilling to share their methods of standardization or manufacturing processes or offer third-party verification,” says Uday Gosalia, president of UGo Beyond, which connects US and Indian ingredient suppliers and brands and works with NuAxon’s parent company, Nisarga Biotech.

“At NuAxon, transparency and ethics are core values that drive its relationships with customers and end consumers. NuAxon’s botanical ingredients are ideal for brands looking for good, clean science.”

Potent stress, sleep, and mood effects

BacoZen has clinically shown to reduce stress, improve sleep, and balance mood at a low dose of 250 mg twice a day. These outcomes resulted from a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, which was recently published in the International Journal of Innovative Research in Medical Science.

The company is currently conducting research to determine if its highly bioavailable botanical extracts can support the body’s absorption of less bioavailable nutraceuticals if combined in single applications.

“Most of today’s botanical extracts are concentrated to such high purity that the body doesn’t recognize them as essential or beneficial compounds, and even if they do, the high concentrations of isolated actives have some unforeseen side effects that could be avoided with full-spectrum technology,” says Devendra Soman, marketing director for Nisarga and NuAxon.

“In fact, most of what’s in a multivitamin is excreted from the body. Our research could reignite the botanicals industry and lead to more efficacious supplements and functional foods, and beverages for consumers.”

NuAxon will offer SupplySide Global attendees two samples featuring its botanical extracts in its booth. The first is “blissful effervescent tablets” for relaxation and calm, containing 500 mg of BacoZen.

The second is “Party Fit,” a hangover prevention supplement featuring BioTurm, a curcumin supplement clinically proven to be 64 times more bioavailable than a typical curcumin-piperine blend.

In other upcoming SupplySide Global features, TopGum plans to debut its Active Lifestyle gummy collection — a variety of pioneering functional confectioneries. The company designed eight formulations that deliver complete “360-degree” pre- and post-workout nutrition in a convenient and tasty form.
