The name Saanroo comes from the Tamil word “sanru”, which is said to translate to ‘Proof, Testimony, Evidence.’ The company’s founders originate from Tamil Nadu, a state in India where Tamil is spoken. The alternate spelling and additional vowels are intended to improve the pronunciation and memorability.

While the company’s nutraceutical division transitions to Saanroo, Gencor Pacific will continue to operate as the pharmaceutical arm, maintaining its legacy of scientific rigor and quality in pharmaceutical solutions.

According to a press release, the rebrand “reflects the company’s renewed commitment to delivering innovative, evidence-based ingredients for nutraceuticals, beauty and cosmeceuticals, healthcare practitioners and the functional food and beverage industries”.
Gencor/Saanroo currently boasts almost 25 ingredients in its nutraceutical portfolio, including Levagen+, HydroCurc, Affron, ActiveAMP, Landkind Salidroside, among many others.
The company’s ingredients have been recognized multiple times by NutraIngredients, wining NutraIngredients Awards across three regions (North America, Europe and Asia) for specific ingredient categories and the nutrition research project category.

New ingredients
A spokesperson for the company revealed that Saanroo would be launching a new berberine ingredient at SupplySide Global under the brand name BioBerb. A further two new ingredients are slated to launch at Natural Products Expo West 2026 in Anaheim, CA.
“BioBerb is made from purified Berberis aristata root, delivering 63% active berberine,“ the spokesperson said. ”It is formulated with Pharamko Biotechnologies LipiSperse technology. In an unpublished PK study (currently under review), it was found that a single 188 mg dose of BioBerb delivers 802 ng/mL of standard-like-for-like, total berberine into blood plasma.”
The spokesperson added that it delivers a high active load: 90% Berberis aristata, 63% active berberine. This combination reportedly helps to reduce the tolerability issues often associated with high doses of berberine.
The ingredient is positioned for healthy blood sugar regulation and metabolism, healthy cholesterol levels, cardiovascular function and metabolic health.
