    • Angela Kinsey told EatingWell that she always has a cheese stick and pretzels on hand to snack on while filming.
    • The snack is simple, but a great source of carbs, protein and fat for a quick boost of energy.
    • The actor also shared other favorites, including assorted nuts and her husband’s homemade granola.

After nearly nine years of starring in the beloved sitcom The Office, Angela Kinsey now gets to be on set in her own kitchen to film her and husband Joshua Snyder’s series, Baking with Josh and Ange.

While their baking series feature the couple making sweet delicacies like chocolate and peanut butter cookies or frozen mini key lime pies, often with her former co-stars as special guests, desserts are not the only foods that help fuel production.

In a recent exclusive interview with EatingWell, Kinsey mentioned her favorite quick and easy snack combo she keeps on hand: “I love a cheese stick and pretzels.”

For maximum convenience, Kinsey keeps her snacks stowed nearby. “We have a drawer at our kitchen island, where we film,” she says.

Sometimes, simplicity is superior, and we definitely feel that way about this choice. For starters, cheese is regarded as a great source of protein and healthy fats, plus a whole bunch of other essential nutrients like calcium and vitamin B12.

The other half of this dynamic duo can hold its own too, as pretzels are a good source of carbs to give you a quick boost of energy. While they might not be the best everyday snack for people who are limiting their sodium intake or monitoring their blood pressure, combining it with foods rich in protein or fat (like cheese!) is an easy way to balance out the amount of carbohydrates you’re eating.

Long story short, we’d say this combo is a solid choice. How you eat the cheese stick, however, can be contentious.

“This is like a whole controversy, Jenna and I talked about it on our podcast.” says Kinsey, referencing her podcast Office Ladies with The Office co-star Jenna Fischer. “Do you string the cheese or bite into the cheese?”

Kinsey makes her choice clear. “Who has time to string the cheese?” she jokes, “I just bite right into it.”

Whichever way you eat it, we’re on board. Or, you can try some of the pair’s other favorites, like assorted nuts or Snyder’s homemade granola. If plain nuts aren’t your jam, spice them up by whipping up our Ultimate Gut-Friendly Snack Mix—or turn your granola into a portable bite with our Peanut Butter & Date Granola Bars.

Snacks are a great way to keep your energy up throughout the day, and Kinsey’s picks are simple but effective. Whether or not you agree with how she eats her cheese stick, however, is definitely up for debate.
