    • Costco’s holiday wine lineup features budget-friendly sommelier-approved picks for every festive occasion.
    • Top choices include Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio, Trefethen Dry Riesling and Marques de Riscal Reserva.
    • Daou’s 3-Liter Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect for large gatherings and family celebrations this season.

’Tis the season for a glass of wine with your favorite comfort foods, and Costco has some incredible bottles for you to choose from. Whether you’re hosting a holiday dinner this season or looking for a tasty host gift, these wines are loved by sommeliers. Safe to say, they’re bound to be impressive.

From crisp white wines to bubbly rosé, here are five wine options you’re going to love.

    Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio

At $19.09, Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio is a stunning sip. It’s recommended by advanced sommelier Dana Beninati, who says that this pinot grigio is “a perfect fit for those who want a light wine to balance a heavy holiday feast.”

“This easy drinking white is uncomplicated and well balanced,” Beninati continues. “It tastes like Honeycrisp apples and fresh lemons.” The sommelier insists that this wine is an “ideal match” for the Feast of the Seven Fishes—EatingWell’s ultimate stew makes the Christmas Eve meal especially easy to prepare.

    Torre Oria Rosé

You really can’t go wrong with rosé, and this Torre Oria Rosé is only $11.99.

“As a chef and sommelier, I love serving rosé during the holidays because it is an easy daytime sipper while preparing the big meal,” Beninati tells us. “It also plays nicely with the cranberry-laden flavors of holiday fare and is my favorite pairing with stuffing!” Since it has those irresistible seasonal notes, we love the suggestion of pairing this wine with stuffing, like our go-to Apple, Onion & Cranberry Stuffing recipe.

    Trefethen Dry Riesling

EatingWell writer and level one sommelier Karla Walsh highly recommends the Trefethen Dry Riesling—she’s keeping her kitchen stocked with multiple bottles of this classic white.

“I recently snagged this bottle during a Costco shop, and highly recommend stocking up on a case for host gifts, popping open at holiday parties and pairing with your Thanksgiving feast,” Walsh says. “Dry, bright and crisp with notes of apple and lime, this Napa riesling plays nicely with a wide variety of foods and is light and lovely to enjoy on its own.”

Not only is this $19.99 wine a standout for its beautifully sweet taste, but this sommelier loves it for its low alcohol content. Walsh says, “It clocks in at just 12% ABV, which means it is far less likely than, say, that high-alcohol zinfandel, to leave you with a pounding headache the next day.”

    Marques de Riscal Reserva

This high-quality Marques de Riscal Reserva is less than $15 and well worth the price tag, as it’s an award-winning vino.

“Not only will family and friends be impressed that this winery just cinched the No. 1 spot on the World’s Best Vineyards List, but the ‘Reserva’ label also guarantees that the wine has been aged for at least three years,” Beninati shares, noting that this bottle is “elegant and timeless.” This Spanish red is ideal for pairing with a dreamy holiday charcuterie spread.

    Daou Cabernet Sauvignon

While on the pricier side at $125, this 3-Liter Daou Cabernet Sauvignon is four bottles of red in one. So if you’re hosting a large gathering, this is Beninati’s top pick.

“There is no better time for large-format bottles than the holiday season,” she says. “My big family loves when I pull out a big bottle, especially when it is crafted by a family-owned winery like Daou.”
