For as long as I’ve been running, the Brooks Adrenaline has been my go-to stability shoe. A podiatrist recommended them to me more than a decade ago, largely because of my overpronating feet and weak ankles. Thanks to the clever bits of foam built into the sides of the shoe to keep runners’ feet in alignment—dubbed GuideRails—I have the support I need and the cushion I crave without the usual stiffness and unsteadiness.
This year, I was lucky to receive the Adrenaline GTS 25 running shoe ahead of its November launch. In an effort to test them properly, I put my GTS 24s (which are now on sale) aside, laced up the new sneakers and took to the park and treadmill. It’s been about three weeks since I started wearing them on my runs, but I can already say that this year’s model is my favorite yet.
Brooks Women’s Adrenaline GTS 25 Running Shoe
Brooks
I’m not an impressively fast long-distance runner who casually covers 16 miles after work on a Wednesday. No, I go on a few short runs per week—many of them on a treadmill as part of a HIIT class—and very happily call it a day. Seeing as my runs max out at 5 miles, I can’t answer how these hold up after hitting mile 10. Instead, I’ll focus on how I’ve felt at mile three, which, in a word, is great.
Eating Well
The new design features an additional 3 millimeters of cushion in the forefoot and an extra millimeter of cushion in the heel. Because Brooks infuses said cushion with nitrogen, the shoe feels springy and forgiving as my feet hit the ground, all without sacrificing stability. I also like the sneaker’s flat knit collar, which wraps around my lower ankle like a flexible brace to keep the shoe snugly in place. While the pair is actually slightly heavier than the 24s, they feel lighter when I’m running because of the additional pillow.
Another perk of the update? Brooks added so many cute color options, I had a difficult time deciding which to choose. While I eventually landed on the oyster/pink/green combination, I was sorely tempted by the coconut/argyle, white/nightlife/yucca and silver anniversary colors.
Eating Well
All of this is to say that I’ve been a loyal Adrenaline wearer for more than a decade, and with this new launch, I have no plans to deviate from this running shoe anytime soon. If you also need a little more stability in your life (and your stride), you can’t go wrong with the Adrenaline GTS 25s.
