    • Ina Garten’s French Apple Tart has just six ingredients and looks impressively elegant.
    • Her fall dessert picks highlight seasonal fruits like apples, pears and cranberries.
    • Garten’s buttery pastry dough comes together quickly in a food processor.

It’s officially fall, and that means it’s time to turn our thoughts to pumpkin spice lattes, falling leaves and trips to the orchard to pick fruits like apples and pears. After a hot, sweaty summer, everyone’s getting excited for autumn, including Ina Garten, who recently shared some of her favorite fall desserts on Instagram. Hint: They’re all about sweet, crisp pastry and flavorful fall fruits.

In the festive carousel of fall desserts, Garten shares photos of a few delicious-looking sweet treats. Pear Clafouti, Poached Fruit, Cranberry and Pear Crostata and an Old-Fashioned Apple Tart all make the list, along with a six-ingredient tart we cannot wait to make with our fall apple orchard hauls.

The filling of Garten’s six-ingredient French Apple Tart is made with four Granny Smith apples, plus some sugar, unsalted butter, apricot jam or jelly (also something might be able to be picked up at the orchard, if there’s a farm stand!) and a touch of brandy, rum or water. The fruity mixture gets tucked into a pastry crust, which you can always pick up at the grocery store, or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you can follow Garten’s recipe.

“I’ve made this pastry so often, I could do it in my sleep,” she says in the video.

The crust comes together quickly in a food processor, which means this recipe might not even take up much of your time, if you have the appliance on hand. It sounds simple enough, especially given its small ingredient list. Plus, those nutritious apples are bursting with juicy, sweet flavor that’s perfect for fall.

Garten’s six-ingredient tart, or any of her favorite fall desserts, would be perfect to take along with you to that Thanksgiving potluck, or to serve guests at your next holiday dinner party. Since we’re approaching the season of welcoming friends and family into our homes to focus on gratitude, any of these apple and pear-packed desserts are sure to be a huge hit with your crowd, especially because they’re pretty simple, but look incredibly fancy.

If you need us, we’ll be trying to perfect Garten’s pastry crust. Since it contains just a few ingredients, can be made with the help of a food processor and is incredibly versatile, it sounds to us like a pastry worth learning to make!
