Taking home the coveted trophies are SRW, NemaLife and Grontvedt Biotech, all of whom will present their business to a global audience at the Nutra Healthspan Summit in London.

This year, the NutraIngredients editorial team, led by Stephen Daniells, PhD, global editor-in-chief of NutraIngredients, judged the awards.

“We were impressed by the number and range of entries for the inaugural Healthspan Innovators, which attracted applications from across the globe,” Dr. Daniells said.

“The NutraIngredients editorial team considered the business and scientific approaches, current success and future potential for each of the entries, and we’re confident that the three winners for the 2025 Healthspan Innovators will bring very different but complimentary perspectives to the topic of healthy cellular aging and longevity.”

    NemaLife

Texas-based start-up NemaLife is a bio-intelligence company that uses microscopic worms, known as C. elegans, to speed up research and quickly discover the functional benefits of bioactive ingredients.

Using its ‘organism-on-a-chip’ platform, the company uses microfluidic automation and AI to generate in vivo efficacy and mechanistic data on bioactives.

The goal? To replace guesswork and animal testing with a scalable, ethical and predictive research model that accelerates the discovery of functional ingredients which may promote longevity and healthspan.

“We applied to be a Healthspan Innovator because our bio-intelligence platform fundamentally redefines how efficacy is discovered and validated for nutritional ingredient innovation,” said Siva Vanapalli, CEO of NemaLife.

“By testing ingredients for six healthspan related domains simultaneously, we help brands position longevity ingredients with not just in vivo efficacy but also synergy and differentiated claims associated with conserved hallmarks of anti-aging.”

Vanapalli said the NemaLife team is now looking forward to connecting with like-minded pioneers, sparking collaborations and sharing data-driven approaches at the Nutra Healthspan Summit.

“It is an honor to be recognized as a Healthspan Innovator,” he said. “This selection cements our belief that the future of bioactive innovation for healthspan lies in decoding cellular and organismal aging using bio-intelligence.”

    Grontvedt Biotech

Established in 2022, Grontvedt Biotech is a Norwegian biotechnology company and a spin-off of the Grontvedt Group.

While the Grontvedt Group has worked with Pelagic fish since the 1830s, using by-products to create fishmeal and fish oil, the new biotechnology arm has focused its efforts on bringing a new active ingredient to the market.

CETO3 is Grontvedt Biotech’s branded fish oil ingredient which is naturally rich in omega-11, or cetoleic acid, a fatty acid naturally found in herring.

Positioned as a healthy aging ingredient, pre-clinical research suggests it may boost the production of EPA and DHA, reducing cholesterol and inflammation.

“Launching a new active ingredient into the nutraceutical space and investing in science of omega-11 and cetoleic acid is both capital intensive and takes a lot of energy,” said Henrik Traaholt, CCO of Grontvedt Biotech.

“We have launched our CETO3 omega-11 ingredient in EU, Asia and U.S. markets in just three years. That’s proof that CETO3 omega-11 brings innovation, new health benefits and interest among the key brands who want to invest into building education for global consumers.”

The company now hopes to shine a light on its omega-11 ingredient at the Nutra Healthspan Summit, showcasing its scientific research and connecting with longevity-focused nutraceutical brands.

    SRW

SRW Laboratories is a New Zealand-based biotechnology company which offers a range of products designed to support healthy aging and cellular health.

Founded in 2020 with the tagline “You have two ages. You can change one”, the company’s purpose is to challenge the way that people think about and experience aging, as well as creating products which tackle the key hallmarks.

Working with a team of renowned scientists in the field of aging research, SRW analyzes the cellular pathways associated with aging and then identify natural ingredients to interact with those pathways.

“We believe we were the first company to bring a product to market that targeted the hallmarks of aging as a strategy to slow the aging process,” said Greg Macpherson, founder of SRW Labs. “We believe we were also the first company to validate this strategy in human trials, where we saw a reversal in both biological and physiological aging.”

The company now has plans to innovate further, partnering with AI drug discovery company Insilico Medicine to develop ‘next-gen’ formulations and grow the science surrounding longevity and healthspan extension.

“We are incredibly excited to be selected as a Healthspan Innovator as it gives us more opportunity to raise awareness around the world as to what we are doing as a company and, hopefully, it inspires more people to take action towards a longer healthier life,” Macpherson said.
