The Sound Life study cohortHealthy 25- to 35-year-old and 55- to 65-year-old adult donors were prospectively recruited from the greater Seattle, Washington, USA, area as part of the Sound Life Project, a protocol (IRB19-045) approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the Benaroya Research Institute. An international research team led by scientists at the University of Toronto, and at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, has created what it says is a first-of-its-kind resource to identify individuals with a genetic risk for elevated low-density lipoprotein (LDL), or ‘bad’ cholesterol, a major contributor to heart disease.
